Competing Identities: Practice and Faith in the Public and Private Squares

March 21-22, 2022

Thank you for your participation  in the Hayim Perelmuter Conference of 2022, which will take place at CTU on March 21-22, 2022, in collaboration with the University of Notre Dame! As we near the conference date, we’d like to go over a few more details of the conference:

Conference Format:

  1. Each paper will be given a 45-minute slot. Please plan to deliver a 25–30-minute paper and leave the remaining time for discussion.
  2. Each paper presenter will receive an honorarium in the amount of $750 to help offset your travel and accommodation costs. Please upload a completed W9 form for this purpose. International presenters are asked to complete and upload the W8 BEN form.
  3. While Perelmuter conferences are usually open to the public, and we typically have robust attendance from non-presenters, we will likely keep the meeting closed-circuit this year because of Covid concerns. This means that we will have a smaller group, but more opportunities to get to know one another and exchange substantive conversation.
  4. Please upload a completed Audio Visual Release form for CTU’s records.
  5. The Spring Shapiro lecture, which will take place on the evening of Monday, March 21st, will still take place in person and will be open to the public, for now.
  6. Click here to download the most current Conference Agenda as of March 3

Logistics:

  1. Although we are still hoping for the conference to take place in person, there is still a chance that it will be switched to a virtual format closer to the date.
  2. In the meantime, if you are flying to Chicago, please try to book flights that are refundable

Covid Considerations:

  1. We are asking all participants to be double vaccinated, with boosters received in the past six months. Please upload proof of your vaccination by March 1, 2022 below.
  2. Masking is required in our building at all times, except while eating or drinking.

Accommodations:

  1. We recommend two nearby Hyde Park hotels for overnight accommodations.
  2. Best Western Plus Hyde Park Chicago Hotel ($139 plus tax/fees) and Hyatt Place Chicago-South/University Medical Center ($152 plus tax/fees). If you would like any assistance in booking your hotel accommodations, please contact LaTasha Webster, CTU Events Manager. These hotels are within a 10 minute walk to CTU, and hotel shuttle transportation is available to and from CTU.

  2. If you haven’t already, please let us know whether you require other dietary accommodations. Please assist us by completing the registration form below by Friday, January 28, 2022.  If you have any questions on the conference planning, please contact Peter Cunningham at pcunningham@ctu.edu.
