Gracious and loving God, we pray for our new Holy Father Pope Leo XIV and give thanks to you for blessing us with another Good Shepherd. We are grateful for his first words reminding us that God loves everyone and for his dedication to the poor and the marginalized. We humbly ask you to send him your Holy Spirit and your abundant peace as he begins his new ministry, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother Mary. Amen.

Please be assured of the prayers of the Society of Jesus. I am a fellow alumnus of Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, DMin 2005-2007, and was baptized in 1969 by one of your Augustinian confrères at St. Patrick’s Church in San Diego, California, which was my mother’s family’s parish. I have been a Jesuit for 35 years and a priest for 24 years. Currently I am serving at a parish in East Los Angeles. We are praying for you!
