Deepening Faith and Shaping Ministry

At Catholic Theological Union (CTU), the intersection of faith, learning, and ministry creates a unique environment for growth and transformation. Fr. Wanrop Boonthod, C.Ss.R., a Redemptorist priest and student at CTU, embodies this mission as he deepens his understanding of spirituality and prepares for his future ministry as a formator.

A Calling to CTU

Fr. Wanrop chose CTU for its depth and excellence in spiritual formation studies.  “I believe that CTU can provide me with valuable and profound knowledge about spiritual formation,” he shares.  His experience has confirmed this belief, as he has been deeply impressed by the faculty’s expertise and authenticity.  “All professors have genuine experiences and profound knowledge,” he says. “They do great work in teaching and delivering deep lessons for all students.”

Embracing Challenges

Fr. Wanrop challenges himself daily to deepen his understanding through study and research.  “I’ve learned that by dedicating more time to reading articles and books, I gain greater understanding in my studies. I just keep learning,” he explains.  This dedication reflects his commitment to not only academic success but also personal and spiritual growth.

A Love for Spirituality

While Fr. Wanrop values all his courses, he has a particular passion for those focused on spirituality.  “My favorite courses are everything related to spirituality,” he says. “I’ve learned a lot and have started applying these lessons to my daily life.”  Integrating academic knowledge into personal practice is at the heart of his journey at CTU.

Preparing for Ministry

Fr. Wanrop sees his time at CTU as essential preparation for his future. “I’ve gained a better understanding of spiritual formation in my own life,” he shares. “I will bring this knowledge to my ministry as a formator at the Redemptorist Major Seminary in Thailand. I am learning by doing.”

Meaningful Interactions

For Fr. Wanrop, meaningful interactions with professors and fellow students have highlighted his CTU experience. “Professors are professional, knowledgeable, and approachable. They are open and ready to answer any questions or discuss ideas,” he says. His fellow students have also enriched his journey. “They are ready and friendly every time we share insights and thoughts. We respect one another’s opinions in discussions.”

Balancing Life at CTU

Balancing academics, personal time, and spiritual life is a challenge Fr. Wanrop approaches with prayerful intention. “Before I start studying, I pray to God for wisdom and understanding,” he says. “I ask for God’s help all the time.”

Enriched Faith

Fr. Wanrop’s time at CTU has significantly strengthened his faith. “I feel that my faith is stronger because I have a better relationship with God through prayer,” he reflects. “Studying spiritual formation at CTU has enriched my spiritual life.”

A Guiding Scripture

Fr. Wanrop finds inspiration in Philippians 4:13:  “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This verse reminds him of the strength and guidance he draws from his faith as he continues his studies and ministry.

A Life of Service

As Fr. Wanrop prepares to return to his ministry as a formator in Thailand, his time at CTU equips him with the knowledge, skills, and spiritual depth to support and guide others. His journey reflects CTU’s mission to form leaders who serve with compassion, wisdom, and faith.
