Catholic Theological Union Now Offers Four Degrees Completely Online

CHICAGO September 16, 2019– This fall, having received approval by the Association of Theological Schools’ Commission on Accrediting, Catholic Theological Union (CTU) will add Master of Arts degrees to its online curricula for the 2020-21 school year. Online graduate degrees which are equal in weight and distinction to CTU’s campus-based degrees can now be attained in the following subjects: Justice Ministry, Liturgical Ministry, and Pastoral Studies, in addition to Hispanic Theology & Ministry, which was already fully online.

Vice President and Academic Dean Rev. Richard Benson, CM reports, “CTU is delighted with the news from our accrediting body that allows us to offer four more of our ministerial degrees fully online.  This permission will permit people who have busy schedules or live at a distance to participate in our premier academic programs.  CTU’s online environment has evolved to the point that our students are able to engage in a fully interactive experience with fellow peers and with their professors in a way that truly enhances their learning.”

In its report, the Association of Theological School acknowledged that CTU’s comprehensive distance program has previously been carefully reviewed by the Board of Commissioners, and lauded the “collaborative character of the school’s distance education programs.”

Alumna/us who hold CTU ministerial degrees in Hispanic Theology & Ministry, Justice Ministry, Liturgical Ministry, and Pastoral Studies have been prepared to be effective leaders for the Church, ready to witness to Christ’s good news of justice, love, and peace. Full details about the new online programs can be found at ctu.edu/academics/online-learning/.
