The Director for Campaigns and Creation Care will work with the executive director, the director of Franciscan Justice Circles, and other staff to expand, support, and mobilize FAN’s growing network of Franciscan-hearted advocates. Specific duties will include leading policy advocacy on creation care issues as well as developing and implementing movement building strategies, particularly through FAN’s local affiliate groups called Franciscan Justice Circles. This is a mid level position that offers an outstanding opportunity to develop policy advocacy and movement building skills within the field of faith-based advocacy. This position reports to the executive director.
Advocacy
Organize and carry out advocacy in Washington DC on creation care issues and other issues as needed. Advocacy methods include meeting with elected or appointed U.S. officials and organizing as well as participating in letter campaigns, social media campaigns, and public rallies.
Facilitate advocacy by members of FAN’s nationwide network by educating and mobilizing them at the national, state, and local levels.
Develop close working relationships with DC-based faith-inspired and other organizations to coordinate advocacy efforts
Franciscan Justice Circles
Work closely with Franciscan Justice Circles director to help nurture Circles (local affinity groups), for example by meeting with interested parties virtually or in person
Reach out to specific groups, including faculty or staff at Franciscan colleges and universities, to found Circles
Play a pivotal role in helping to plan FAN’s annual Franciscan Justice Leadership Conference
Develop written and multimedia materials on Franciscan spirituality and justice issues for use in Circles
Other
Complete development tasks as a member of the team, including helping to raise funds for the work and manage donor relationships
Assist as a team member in FAN events, including helping to facilitate technology for webinars, create video or audio content, etc
Participate in in-person events in Washington DC including meetings, rallies, and staff events
