Biography

Gina Wolfe’s work explores women’s empowerment and leadership, poverty alleviation and organizational ethics in light of Catholic theological ethics. In Alleviating Poverty Through Profitable Partnerships: Globalization, Markets, and Economic Well-Being, Wolfe and her co-authors argue that poverty, an unnecessary form of human degradation, can be alleviated by moving beyond traditional responses which focus on aid and philanthropy to adopting a praxis-centered, bottoms up approach in which persons in poverty are partners in the process of economic development. In “The Calvert Women’s Principles: Catalyst for Promoting Gender Equity and Empowerment of Women in the Workplace,” a chapter in the recently published second edition of Leadership and Business Ethics, examines the feminization of poverty, the gender wage gap and other barriers to women’s career advancement and discusses efforts being made to address them.

Wolfe has given papers and presentations in Austria, Belgium, China, England, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Spain and South Africa as well in many venues in the United States. She is active in a number of professional societies including the Catholic Theological Society of America, the Society of Christian Ethics, the Society for Business Ethics and the Ecclesia of Women in Asia.
