Global Village Art Exhibit
September 22, 2019 @ 8:00 AM - December 13, 2019 @ 5:00 PM
The Mary-Frances and Bill Veeck Gallery at Catholic Theological Union, Chicago invites members of Chicago Sculpture International to submit artwork that reflects their interpretation of the role they play in the Global Village for this juried exhibit.
Join us Sunday, September 22, after Sundays at CTU, for the opening of CTU’s Fall Gallery Exhibit, The Global Village. Members of Chicago Sculpture International will present artwork reflecting their interpretation of our “Global Village.”
We are all part of a Global Village sharing our compassion, empathy, and kinship with others throughout the world. As a small part of the whole, people contribute their energy, ideas, and values towards a greater holistic good. While interconnected by technology, we forget the value, simplicity, and strength that can only be achieved by one-on-one, face-to-face interactions. As artists, we reach across borders and walls to aid and understand one and other. These are the true keys to the Global Village. How might one unlock the core values? How can one influence a different outcome? What types of conversations are needed for a change in direction to occur? Artists always offer a different way of seeing and addressing local and global issues. Where do you see yourself in this village?
