About the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center

The third-largest Holocaust museum in the world, Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center provides a world-class museum and education experience, honoring memories and inspiring individuals, regardless of age, to stand up for what they believe in.

One of Smithsonian’s Top 12 “Must See” Destinations in the World, what differentiates the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center from other Holocaust Museums is our emphasis on the story and history of the Holocaust with a strong focus on how each visitor can and should leave feeling empowered to make a difference.

Our Karkomi Permanent Holocaust Exhibition addresses the human experience and the lessons learned using photographs, personal belongings, filmed Survivor recollections, memorabilia, and historic artifacts.

In our interactive holographic Survivor Stories Theater, visitors will hear a Survivor’s personal story and, through Voice Recognition Technology, be able to ask any question of the “Survivor” that comes to mind.
