Dr. Miriam F. Elman
Executive Director of the Academic Engagement Network
Associate Professor of Political Science at Syracuse University
Dr. Elman holds the title of McClure Professor of Teaching Excellence at the Maxwell School of Citizenship & Public Affairs at Syracuse University. She has edited and co-edited six books and is the author of over 65 journal articles and book chapters.
Rev. John T. Pawlikowski, OSM
Former Director, Catholic-Jewish Studies Program
Rev. Pawlikowski is a member of the Order of Friar Servants of Mary (Servites) and was ordained at the University of St. Mary of the Lake. A pioneer in modern Catholic-Jewish dialogue who was the founding director of CTU’s Catholic-Jewish Studies Program, Fr. Pawlikowski served on the faculty from 1968 until his retirement in 2017.
This panel features three world-renowned scholars who will discuss the rising and varied manifestations of antisemitism in America today against the backdrop of their areas of expertise in Jewish-Christian relations, American history, and political science. In putting their analyses into conversation with one another, this panel will offer not only expert insight, but also a way forward in defining what antisemitism is, how it is expressed in political and religious forms, and how it can be most effectively addressed.
