Lecture: "Caring for Those at the End of Life: Is Technology a Friend or Foe?"
Presented by Rev. Thomas Nairn, O.F.M., Ph.D.
About the lecture: In the United States, high technology rescue medicine has often been used to extend the lives of those who are dying. Some medical ethicists suggest that such dependence on technology has indeed saved lives but has also "disfigured dying." This lecture will look at the phenomenon of dying in the United States today and ask if the Catholic moral tradition has anything to say regarding care for those at the end of life in our highly technologized society.
4 p.m. Eucharist followed by reception.
